Meaningful change
Leading change strategist Robert Dilts, has pointed out that the word "sponsorship" comes from the Latin "spons", and means "to pledge solemnly". So sponsorship is a vow to help a person (including one's self) to use each and every event in order to experience and to awaken to the goodness and gifts of the self, the world, and the connections between the two.
"Sponsorship" represents a holistic approach to mental health and emotional well-being. A sponsor creates a context in which others can act, grow and excel; not as a teacher, coach or mentor, where the focus is more on the development of capabilities and behavioural performance, but rather as someone who provides a context, contacts and resources that allow the group or individual being sponsored to focus on, develop ad use their own abilities and skills. Therefore sponsorship is about awakening and safeguarding potential within others. It is the commitment to the promotion of something that is already within a person or group, but which is not being manifested to its fullest capacity. In recognising and acknowledging, seeing and blessing, the essence or identity of another person, they can grow. This concept originally coined by Dilts as part of his research into the skills that lead towards genius is part of the inspiration for Deborah Claire Procter's approach to helping individuals and groups change in tailor made sessions. |
reasons to invest in yourself
It is wonderful to remember that the word “Genius” comes from the Latin genere meaning to “beget, or bring forth.”
Sometimes we need to stand on something to get a better view in order to find new ways through. All change takes a little time and encouragement. Reading is a great way through so here are some book recommendations for new ways of being, doing, and knowing. Because, of course, if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got. To see the world in a grain of sand |

Frequently asked questions
|
Can you tell me more about your approach to mentoring?
On top of extensive training (to the level of a coach) with some of the most significant trainers and developers in the technique of Neuro Linguistic Programming such as John Grinder, Robert Dilts, and Tamara Andreas, I have been lucky enough to have had intensive training (140 hours) with Stephen Gilligan in the U.S.A and U.K., in his techniques of ”Self-Relations.“ I draw a great deal of inspiration from Gilligan's work which he has summed up as a way to "repoeticize experience" and also that of Robert Dilts with his use of the concept of the "Hero’s Journey", and his work on strategies of genius where he analyses exemplary examples like Sherlock Holmes, Walt Disney, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
I continue to develop my skills and intuition, and keep to date with the major thought leaders through regularly listening to online seminars and summits. |
Can you tell me more specifically about your training qualifications?
◆ 2005 Certified Master Hypnotherapist - Julie Silverthorn & John Overdurf (NLP Academy, Croydon) ◆ 2004 Certified Coach using NLP - John Grinder & Carmen Bostic St Clair (NLP Academy, Croydon) ◆ 2003 Ericksonian Hypnosis Training (Basic, Advanced, Supervision - 110 hours) - Stephen Gilligan (San Diego) ◆ 2003 Ericksonian Hypnosis Training (Supervision - 40 hours) - Stephen Gilligan (Keswick) ◆ 2003 Genius & the Generative Self - Robert Dilts & Stephen Gilligan (PPD Personal Development, London) ◆ 1999 NLP Master Practitioner - Ian Newton & Liz Gardener (Stenhouse, Cardiff) ◆ 1998 - Core Transformation - Tamara Andreas (Andreas NLP Trainings, Boulder, Colorado) ◆ 1996 - NLP Practitioner Ian Newton & Liz Gardener (Stenhouse, Cardiff).

How do you sum up your approach?
The mythologist Joseph Campbell spoke of a great myth found in every culture across time: The person who is called on a “hero’s journey” to transform their life and bring a gift into the community.
The journey of the client is that of translating problems into solutions. It is what Stephen Gilligan has called "repoeticizing" your experience to once again "let the river run through you." |
Is coaching best to make changes in my personal or professional life?
Clients often find that what starts as a change or improvement in one side, crosses over to the other side. In other words there is an overlap so it is good to start where it feels comfortable.
For clients with specific business questions that touch into questions of branding, social and relationship marketing, presentation and confidence building skills, I draw on other knowledge bases such as from my arts and martial arts background. Working on the inner game and mindset is well known as a way to improve the outer game so that you can gain more satisfaction from life and relationships. |
How often should I have a session?
That is something we can discuss to see which rhythm works best for you. There are follow up emails and fieldwork that accompany the sessions.

Within coaching and personal development, who are your teachers?
I am ever grateful to my key teacher Stephen Gilligan, and other important guides such as John Grinder, Robert Dilts and Tamara Andreas. More recently Samantha Bennett, Molly Gordon and Michael O'Neil have had a big impact on my work. Also I've been directly helped by the work of Mark Silver, and Kevin Knebl, and more indirectly with many others such as Shanda Sumpter, Suzanne Evans, Pedro Adao, Ray Edwards and other coaches.

In the arts who inspires you?
This could be a very very long list however here are my starting points;

How does this production company relate to the coaching?
